Oscar Sansom

Oscar Sansom is a BAFTA and multi award winning Director and filmmaker working across narrative film, documentary, music and advertising. His films explore performance, identity and the human condition through highly cinematic and often surreal visual worlds. His work includes the feature documentary Placebo: This Search for Meaning and the narrative feature These Violent Delights, which premiered at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival.

His striking cinematic aesthetic and creative approach to filmmaking has been heavily informed by a history in photography and fine art. A director with an uncompromising approach and extreme focus on detail, he is an expert in crafting powerful and emotive performances. He is constantly pushing boundaries both technically and creatively within his work and his trailblazing works in music film have seen him recognised as one the countries foremost directors of the genre. Creating celebrated films such as Liam Gallagher: Down by the River Thames and Biffy Clyro: A Celebration of Endings.

Sansom’s distinct style has enabled him to create powerfully arresting works across his extensive history in film, documentary, music video, TV, broadcast commercials and live capture. Working with bands such as Biffy Clyro, Royal Blood, Liam Gallagher, Placebo and Chvrches and clients including Jack Daniel's, RBS and The Macallan Whisky. Oscar’s work is driven by concept and he embraces writing and developing ideas independently as well as working with writers, artists and creatives, collaborating with broadcasters, and agencies including The BBC, CBS, NBC, STV and The Leith Agency.
