Oscars Sansom became a director with The Forest Of Black in 2012, bringing with him a slick, cinematic aesthetic. His work in film originally developed through a background in fine art. He began working and training in the film industry whilst still studying for an Honours degree in Fine Art Photography at the Glasgow School Of Art. After he graduated in 2010 he started to develop his practice as a filmmaker and photographer, with work being featured in numerous publications including NME, Rock Sound and Kerrang. He was quickly recruited as a director at The Forest Of Black where his career has seen him effortlessly step into high-end production, combining his glossy, cinematic look with emotive and often quirky conceptual content. Utilising his strong knowledge of editing and cinematography with his experience in conceptual visual language he has established a distinct style and identity as a director. This can be seen throughout his prolific work in music videos, documentaries and broadcast commercials, working with bands such as Biffy Clyro, Belle and Sebastian, Idlewild and Twin Atlantic and clients including Red Bull, Sony, RBS and Visit Scotland. He is currently co-directing his first feature length project which is a film on acclaimed Scottish indie band Idlewild.
